BCA Technology Exchange on Green Construction

(Singapore) Ampd Energy is one of 4 invited exhibitors to a BCA’s closed-door event on 21 March, Friday afternoon, held at the BCA Academy. The Technology Exchange on Green Construction event was attended by key members from the public service, main cons, developers and media to see how we can better use clean energy in the construction sector.

The Energy Efficiency Grant (EEG) aims to support local businesses in their sustainability journey and has been expanded to embrace Singapore’s construction sector. The EEG now provides support for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to construction companies, offering up to 70% funding for pre-approved energy-efficient equipment. The Enertainer, a flagship product of Ampd Energy, is BCA’s pre-approved energy-efficient equipment.

To qualify for the grant, the construction firm must be registered and operating in Singapore, make the grant application through the Business Grants Portal (BGP) before they have commenced procurement of the equipment, and the BESS must be connected to the grid and charged using grid electricity. Aver Asia, the exclusive distributor of Ampd Energy in Singapore and Indonesia, fully supports this noble initiative and is also greening our business to meet sustainable capabilities towards a greener future.

Pumping a New Story

November 12, 2024, Aver Asia, a leader in the equipment rental business operating in Asia Pacific, has completed the acquisition of PT Resource Equipment Indonesia.

PT Resource Equipment Indonesia (REL), located at Balikpapan (and only 650m away from PT Aver Asia Balikpapan branch), is an established equipment specialist that provides innovative and sustainable mine water and slurry management solutions in Indonesia for more than a decade.

Known for its reliable pumping systems, REL operates one of the largest and most diversified fleets of pumping and associated support equipment in Indonesia. REL is known to provide unique and “fit-for-purpose” mine water, mud management and hydro-mining solutions, along with options for equipment hire and purchase, servicing sectors such as mining, oil & gas, heavy industries and infrastructure.

The acquisition ceremony started in great energy with a traditional dance of the Dayak Modang tribe. The signing and handing over event were witnessed 3-way by the entire REL team lead by Dave Tilbrook, Commissioner, and Tony Ryder, President Director, an Aver Asia contingent headed by Ben Koh, Chief Executive Officer, and the expatriates of Sumitomo Corporation, represented by Negishi Takayuki and Yutani Yoshihito. With the acquisition, Aver Asia can grow the equipment business horizontally with more to offer to major clients.

With Aver Asia acquiring REL, we are pumping a whole new story with the combined and complementary strengths of REL and Aver Asia. REL has a stellar reputation for business excellence; as a matter of fact, REL and Aver Asia share many similar values and inspirations. It is crystal clear that both are poised to achieve great things together to accelerate business growth. REL business stream shall remain unchanged after the acquisition.

Aver Asia celebrated Silver Jubilee anniversary in 2024 hence it makes it even more special to have welcomed REL into the family this year. As a group, we shall continue to open new markets and unlock new opportunities to enhance greater value to our employees, customers and stakeholders.

Building Sustainable Construction Together

Ampd Energy and Aver Asia jointly organized the Sustainable Constructions Insights on 27 Sep 2024. The networking and learning session began with an on-site product demonstration for customers to better understand the features and operational benefits of the Enertainer.

Some may ask why the event is held in a warehouse. Ampd Energy moved into their new office and warehouse at no. 24 Benoi Place on the same month as the event. A year ago, we signed an agreement that sees Aver Asia handles exclusively Ampd Energy’s rental and sales in Singapore. In July 2024, an exclusive agreement is signed for Indonesia. Ampd Energy is a partner whom we are getting closer with, in many ways.

The one-of-a-kind networking event with live entertainment and live food stations made it an insightful and entertaining afternoon. What was amazing is that the mobile kitchen, air coolers, projector and sound systems were entirely powered by the Enertainer throughout the event with attendees not even noticing any noise in the background. The air coolers that are working hard on that hot afternoon are probably louder than the Enertainer!

Garden of Hope

Another awesome CSR initiative and this time it is in Malaysia, at a small kindergarten called Tadika Permata Scientex located in no. 49 Jalan Bacang 19, Taman Kota Masai, 81700 Pasir Gudang, Johor. This preschool is a little different from other kindergartens as it enrolls children with autism spectrum disorder from the age of 4 years old.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurological and developmental disorder that affects how people interact with others, learn and behave. The symptoms generally appear in the early years of life. ASD is not an illness. We can also see it from a different perspective that the brain thinks in a different way. Autistic children find bright lights or loud noises overwhelming and traumatic. They will get anxious or upset about unfamiliar situations and social events.

In Tadika Permata Scientex, they adopted a one-to-one teaching methodology. In a one-on-one setting, there are less distractions and allow students to maintain heightened focus and attention in class. During this “personalized time”, teachers can provide differentiated lessons based on the individual student’s specific needs for reading, writing and calculating. Whether in-or-out of classroom, we want to build their self-confidence and interest in learning.

Every small celebration is worth celebrating. The 14^{th of}July CSR program is a first for AARSB Malaysia. On that Sunday, 7 bubbly AARSB representatives (from HR, workshop and operations) joined hands with 95 students and 7 kindergarten teachers in a planting activity of 100 plants, containing vegetable, herb and flower species, to build a fairy garden in the kindergarten.

The initial worry that weighted on AARSB team on the autistic children’s reaction to strangers is quickly rinsed off with cheerfulness and enthusiasm from an equally cheerful and lively AARSB team. (If you may agree with me) Children are the plants; and we are the gardeners. Seeding the plants, growing plants and keeping them alive can provide the children (and our AARSB team) a sense of self-esteem and accomplishment.

Fairy gardens symbolize the harmony between us and the marvels of nature, and gardening is a calming after-school activity. I have taken the bold liberty to name this new garden the Garden of Hope on behalf of AARSB and Tadika Permata Scientex. The root beliefs of Garden of Hope, which is inspired by the good efforts of AARSB, are imagination, commitment, responsibility, cooperation and hope. Playing with dirt itself is therapeutic but is a neglected activity in our busy urban everyday lives. Have you gotten your hands dirty lately?

Together, We Green The World

On a bright sunny morning of 18 May 2024, a group of bubbly volunteers from PT Aver Asia set sail to a noble cause in Muara Gembong, Bekasi City, West Java Province, Indonesia. Travel tip: If you are looking for a relaxing break, it is worth noting that there are several beautiful beaches residing in this part of the world.

Today, this same place with Instagrammable vacation spots is also facing very real environment degradation. The PT Aver Asia team lives and breathes our company’s commitment to improve the local liveable environment thus decides to carry out their CSR campaign “Together we green the World”.

Before our men and women start their strenuous day activity, they had a good warm-up session and hearty breakfast. We have to wonder why did they go through the efforts on their off days? (Looking at the photos) Simply getting to the plantation site is already physically demanding. Afterall, there are many easier and lighter activities with good tenacities too.

“Many homes and villages were lost due to the abrasion. This is where our Bekasi branch is and so this place is our home too.”

Mangrove tree planting is an effort to protect the natural environment and the thin mangrove ecosystem due to encroachment, pollution, pests, pond expansions, untrained cultivation practices, and land conversion for commercial purposes.

Mangroves can grow up quickly and reach up to 2 metres within 2 years. They are known to be highly productive with many environmental benefits. Mangroves can act as a vital buffer against storms by slowing the flow of water. Their roots are so strong that they can absorb the large waves of a tsunami! This makes it a cost-effective option rather than building sea walls. Mangroves are able to store 5 times more carbon than terrestrial forests. They are the only trees that thrive in salty waters and improve water quality and the natural environment.

The PT Aver Asia team planted 2,000 mangroves on that hot Saturday afternoon. A salute to our 35 service heroes for restoring the health of Muara Gembong’s coastlines and greening the world. May the mangrove shields Indonesians from coastal floods and storms.

Kendal, A Strategic Expansion Into Central Java’s Industrial Hub

Aver Asia proudly presents the newest and notable Indonesian branch in Kendal, Indonesia. Kendal is one of the top five largest cities in Central Java, positioned beside Semarang, the provincial capital. Semarang boasts the largest industrial park in the region, Kendal Industrial Park (KIP), that has since attracted many international investors from Southeast Asia and Europe.

Our 6^th Indonesian branch’s primary focus in Kendal involves construction projects aimed at building factories and shop houses. The on-going projects are pivotal in supporting the industrial growth of the new industrial hub. The new Kendal branch is strategically located less than 10 minutes’ drive away from KIP which greatly enhanced our operational efficiency and connectivity.

Interestingly, Kendal branch is near to not one but two industrial parks. The Batang Industrial Park (BIP) is another significant industrial hub in Central Java. Matter of fact, BIP is even larger in size than KIP. The Kendal branch is conveniently located to the two largest industrial parks in this region and is a 40-minute drive to BIP in Batang city.

The opening of the Kendal branch with expansive industrial activities from KIP and BIP has rooted the new branch as a one-stop centre of integrations and collaborations. Aver Asia’s presence in Kendal aligns with our vision to drive economic growth and to continue to play a significant role in the region’s developments.

Actively & Angelically Bettering the Society We Live In

As part of Aver Asia’s commitment to CSR, we collaborated with Yuan Volunteer Group to organize and participate in a Chinese New Year Party 2024 at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH).

Mentally well people are positive and happy. Let’s not take mental wellness for granted in our modern and fast-paced society. Do you know that depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder are the top two mental health issues in Singapore and affected nearly 10% of our population? Everyone deserves a positive state of mind and a supportive environment for mental wellbeing.

For this joyous and meaningful afternoon, Aver Asia has contributed donations and volunteer efforts. The $2,000 contribution has helped to provide CNY cookies and new clothes for the IMH patients. During the CNY event, we also distributed 500 warm meals. One of the highlights, which has expanded to a regular volunteer activity, was for volunteers to help cut their hair. During the hair-cutting activity, the laughter and joy complemented a warm ambiance. In a typical CNY event, we exchanged hong baos, but that day we exchanged smiles.

Every small act of kindness can make a difference to somebody who needs it. “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth” (Muhammad Ali). We shall continue to make a positive impact with service to others. AA-ers certainly know how to be happy because we are active and angelic people.

		This is probably one of the largest projects in Asia of our time. PT. Aver Asia acted responsively to the economic and social developments of Indonesia. A new and strategically positioned satellite yard was set-up-and-ready-to-function in less than 3-months’ time to serve foreign investors visiting Nusantara.
Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) is slated to be the future capital of Indonesia. IKN is well-endowed by nature and is surrounded by hilly areas, forest and a natural bay. Today, roads are carved, and buildings are erected as part of the nation’s economic evolution to become a developed country by 2045.The on-going phase 1 “Government Central Area Zone” is the initial development stage and comprises construction of government offices, schools, and hospitals. The entire project is estimated at USD $35 billion and will be finished in 5 phases.
		This transformative and groundbreaking masterplan has consolidated the country’s construction capabilities to the new capital. The primary aim is to build a sustainable and smart city yet preserve the natural ecologies at IKN. The plan, over the next two decades, is for the green and walkable metropolis to become the forest capital powered with renewable energy. PT. Aver Asia stands tall with the responsibility to prioritise sustainability and provide environmentally friendly construction solutions.
